Egyptian Celebrities Rally Against Tragedy in Rafah

In the wake of devastating Israeli air strikes on a displacement camp in northwest Rafah this Sunday, Egyptian celebrities are using their platforms to decry the violence. The strikes targeted tents housing displaced Palestinians and resulted in at least 40 deaths, with dozens more injured.

Prominent figures from various sectors of Egyptian entertainment have taken to social media to voice their outrage and sorrow over the attack. Among them, heart surgeon-turned-comedian Bassem Youssef highlighted the harrowing images of decapitated infants, images which had previously been denied by authorities. Actor Amr Youssef commented on the dire situation, noting “it was not safe.”

The collective voice of Egyptian stars, including Ahmed Elawady, Ahmed Malek, Nelly Karim, Ayten Amer, Donia Samir Ghanem, Chico, Ramy Sabry, and Mohamed Mamdouh is growing louder as they call for an end to the violence and express their solidarity with the victims of the Rafah bombing. Their public statements serve as a powerful reminder of the impact of celebrity influence in times of crisis.
