Egypt’s Last King Ahmed Fouad II Returned to Alexandria for a Nostalgic Royal Tour

Egypt’s last monarch, Ahmed Fouad II, has made a rare and nostalgic visit to Alexandria, taking in some of the city’s most iconic historical landmarks over a two-day tour.

Accompanied by his son Prince Mohammed Ali, his daughter Princess Fawzia, and four of his grandchildren, the former king received a warm and enthusiastic استقبال from locals throughout the visit.

The tour began at the historic Montaza Gardens, where he explored key royal sites including the former royal palace, Salamlek Palace, and even the royal train—revisiting spaces deeply tied to Egypt’s royal past.

Continuing his journey through the city, Ahmed Fouad II also visited the statue of Mohammed Ali in Mansheya Square before heading to a more unexpected stop: a local café in the Bahary district named after his father, King Farouk.

The visit to the café turned into a heartfelt moment, as residents and visitors gathered to welcome him, take photos, and share in the experience. The former king spent around an hour there, enjoying coffee with his family in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The visit highlighted not just a return to historic sites, but also a personal connection to Alexandria—a city long associated with Egypt’s royal legacy.
