The Ministry of Social Solidarity Announces New Initiative to Relief Homelessness

The Ministry’s rapid intervention team announced their collaboration with several civil society organizations and governorates to launch their new homelessness relief initiative.

The relief campaign will be implemented across various governorates. The campaign aims to relocate homeless people to social care institutions to receive comprehensive care and suitable housing, in addition to providing blankets and hot meals to those who choose not to relocate.

Dispersed in several governorates, the rapid intervention team works alongside volunteers to relieve homeless people across cities from the cold weather.

The campaign has already relieved 350 homeless people in 2 days across 10 governorates.

The rapid intervention team was established in 2014 and receives reports via the ministry’s hotline (16439), the cabinet’s hotline (16528), or through information extracted from media outlets and social media sites regarding abuses against elderly and homeless people, as well as abuses against residents of social care institutions.
