The second misdemeanor court of the economic court in Cairo issued a verdict charging YouTuber Ahmed Wageh with 1-month imprisonment, bail of 5,000, and a fine of 20,000.
The case started when Ahmed Wageh posted a video in which he criticized the movie “Ashab Wala Aaz”, in which he insulted renowned actress Mona Zaki, and the movie cast.
The movie, which caused a controversial buzz across Egypt and the Middle East was produced by Netflix and released in 2022.
Shaaban Saeed- the lawyer representing Ashraf Zaki- head of the Actor’s syndicate, filed a complaint with the court claiming that Wageh had publicly insulted the actress and defamed her.
The lawyer argued that Wageh’s video publicly affected the actress and the entire artistic community.
