Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry Delivers An Important Speech At the Security Council:
Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered an urging speech during the emergency session held by the Security Council.
During the meeting, Shoukry made several important remarks, clearly condemning Israel for its massacres against Palestinian civilians.
He began by stating “The city of Gaza is currently witnessing horrific acts executed by the Israeli occupation. The number of martyrs of innocent Palestinian civilians has reached more than 5,000 civilians, including 2000 children, in a period that doesn’t exceed 3 weeks”
He continued “The indiscriminate war machine is still persisting, in a random manner, while innocent civilians are being massacred,”
He added “The Israeli practices have brought us to this miserable moment, and what is happening now is the result of an accumulation of Israel’s policies meant to perpetuate the illegal occupation,”
He urged for international protection for the defenseless Palestinians and ensuring safe, swift, and sustainable access to humanitarian aid in Gaza, requesting Israel to assume its international responsibilities as an existing occupying power.
He also called upon the Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and cessation of any practices that aim to displace Palestinians from their home
He called for the establishment of a binding framework to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with agreed-upon parameters established by the United Nations Security Council and international legitimacy.
These parameters call for ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with east Jerusalem as its capital.
Shoukry also shed light on the warnings Egypt has recently repeated regarding continued and intensified Israeli practices.
These practices include undermining the Palestinian Authority, dividing the West Bank and Gaza, imposing a blockade on the Gaza Strip, repeatedly storming the West Bank cities, and storming holy sites.
