Shocking news hit the Egyptian and Arab sports communities on Saturday morning, July 6, 2024. Ahmed Refaat, a key player for Modern Sport and the Egyptian National Team, has died.

Modern Sport Club released an official statement confirming the tragic loss, which has deeply saddened fans and followers alike.

The cause behind the death of the player

Ahmed Refaat’s tragic death followed a severe incident on March 11, 2024. He collapsed during the closing minute of a match against Al-Ittihad Alexandria, with no apparent contact from other players. Emergency services rushed him to the nearest hospital to begin urgent recovery efforts.

In the following days, the player made a recovery from a severe heart attack. He was discharged from the hospital and started adjusting to life away from the soccer field. He even made a recent appearance on a television program.

However, a sudden decline in his health led to another hospitalization. Modern Sport Club announced that Refaat’s health sharply deteriorated, culminating in his death after a tough battle, early Saturday morning.
