Indians have long cherished the tradition of “Annam Daivam”, meaning “Food is Divine”, and those who provide food are almost like God.
This Indian Independence Day, Lovin’ Dubai had the honor of hosting one such resident who’s turned this Indian tradition to a large-scale meal project in the UAE. Founder of the Food ATMs, that sell full-course meals at AED3 and even lesser, across 6 Emirates of the UAE – Ayesha Khan.

Ayesha’s been a part of the UAE community since 2006 and calls the UAE “a home to millions of us.”
What started as a thoughtful practice of sharing home-cooked meals with the lesser privileged people, grew into a full-fledged organization that blue collar-workers across rely on. The project grew from one humble shop in Ajman to two, and then gradually to locations of Al Majaz in Sharjah, Musaffah in Abu Dhabi, and Muhaisnah in Dubai.
Today, the Food ATM is a collective effort to fight hunger and ensure that nobody’s left starving because of a lighter pocket. Be it 50 fils or 5 Dirhams, Ayesha’s kitchen has a plate for everyone. And such acts of kindness are truly what makes UAE one of the most compassionate communities in the world.
