Emirates Has Come Under Fire For Asking Staff To Remove Taiwan Pins

Avatar

Emirates Airlines has come under fire for what it states is a ‘communication error’, asking staff to remove pins with flags that identified Taiwanese staff as such.

According to the BBC, a leaked email from the airline was circulated showing instructions from the Chinese government to “follow the One China policy”.

Staff from Taiwan were instructed by the uniform standards and development manager, to wear Chinese flags instead, however this was changed soon after.

Emirates has since changed uniform regulations so no staff are required to wear flag pins

The airline released a statement saying the instructions to replace Taiwan pins was retracted, and no staff have to don pins any more.
