A Man Was Caught Smoking On A Flight From Dubai To Mumbai
In an unexpected turn of events, a male passenger was arrested for smoking mid-air during a Dubai-Mumbai IndiGo flight. The incident has raised concerns about in-flight safety protocols.
The passenger was found smoking in the toilet of the flight after one of the crew members got a cigarette smell coming from the flight’s bathroom
Following the investigation, a consumed cigarette was discovered in the lavatory, prompting the airline’s staff to inquire why the passenger had chosen to smoke. The crew members questioned him after he willingly handed over a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
Following the incident, the flight crew promptly intervened and reported the issue to Mumbai’s Sahar police station upon landing
As per the official, as soon as the flight landed in Mumbai, a case was registered at Sahar Police Station under the section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for endangering life or personal safety of others and Section 25 of the Aircraft Rules. This led to the subsequent arrest of the individual involved.

In March 2023, another incident unfolded at Bengaluru airport, where a female passenger was arrested for smoking during an IndiGo flight originating from Kolkata. Subsequently, a legal action was taken against her for jeopardizing the well-being of passengers and violating safety regulations.
