Over the past week, barricades have been placed around a park in Business Bay, across Executive Towers. The park had a children’s play area, a skate park and a running track. It was a truly beautiful landscape! But construction work has started on it and signs have gone up saying “closed for enhancements.”

Then and now… all that lush greenery and a vital play area for our kids is gone. https://t.co/DZ0pUrAcZv— Bindu Rai (@BinduRai) June 23, 2023
Dubai Properties wished to address residents’ concerns regarding the temporary closure of the playground at Executive Towers. They told The National that “the plot has always been zoned as a development plot and not a common area.” The reason it was made into a park was to “prevent the unsightly appearance of a development site. The plot was landscaped for the comfort of the residents and installed playground amenities whilst the plot remained vacant.”
They are assuring residents that the playground amenities will be relocated.
Don’t be afraid that the greenery will be gone because Dubai has a vision of turning its desert into a green haven with millions of trees and plants. Dubai Municipality planted 2.83 million square metres of green areas in the city in 2021. Under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Municipality has been working to significantly increase green areas in the emirate.
So don’t you worry, the emirate is and will continue to make that a priority!
