The UAE Condemns Israeli Ground Operations In Gaza And Calls For Immediate Ceasefire

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing “concern over the Israeli military escalation and exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis that threatens more loss of civilian lives.”

The UAE condemns Israel’s ground invasion in Gaza and call for an immediate ceasefire

“The Ministry further underlined the importance of the protection of civilians, according to international humanitarian law, international treaties for the protection of civilians and human rights, and the need to ensure that they are not targeted during conflict.”

“Furthermore, the Ministry stressed the importance of the United Nations General Assembly resolution, overwhelmingly adopted on Friday, which calls for a ‘humanitarian truce’ in Gaza and a cessation of hostilities.”

The UAE requested an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting to be held as soon as possible in light of Israel’s announcement that it is “expanding ground operations” in Gaza

The 15-member council could meet as early as Sunday, diplomats said. A journalist at Al Jazeera stated that the meeting has been scheduled.⁠
