Coming Soon: A metro station near you!

The RTA has been seeking out contractors for a multi-billion dollar expansion project…

The RTA is now in talks for the creation of a 30-kilometre-long Dubai Metro Blue Line

The completion date is yet to be announced…but residents are already excited because the city is now going to be more connected than ever!

According to the current plan, The Blue line will have 14 stations in total

What we know so far:

  • It will be 30 kilometres long- 15.5km of which will be underground and 14.5km above ground.
  • 7 stations will be elevated
  • 5 underground stations
  • 1 interchange station
  • 2 elevated transfer stations connected to the existing Centrepoint and Creek stations

The excitement is real and here’s a video of a prospective metro map. (But this is not the confirmed route!)

This expansion plan is to help accommodate Dubai’s growing population and economy

In December 2022, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai approved Phase 2 of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan- which was to make the city accessible in 20 minutes.
