In a strongly worded statement, the UAE has expressed its condemnation of the terrorist attack on a military college in Homs, central Syria, which tragically led to numerous fatalities and injuries. The nation extends its deepest sympathies to the victims and their families in the wake of this devastating incident.
Over 100 casualties were reported on Thursday as a military academy in Syria was attacked, with weaponized drones striking the site shortly after the departure of Syria’s defense minister from a graduation ceremony, according to a war monitor and an official.
The drone attack occurred while graduating officers were capturing photos with their families, tragically resulting in the loss of several children’s lives.
Amid the chaos, the aftermath of the attack revealed a grim scene, with some bodies still smoldering and others engulfed in flames. Among the screams, someone urgently called out to “put him out!” as a backdrop of gunfire added to the harrowing situation.
The strike resulted in the tragic loss of 89 lives, which included 31 women and five children, while injuring as many as 277 individuals, according to the health ministry. There is concern that the death toll may increase further as some of the wounded remain in critical condition.
