Here’s The List Of Countries That UAE Is Banning Travel To Because Of COVID’s New Variant

Avatar

This weekend, the UAE released a list of countries that its citizens are banned from traveling to.

This is, of course, part of an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 (especially the new variants)

The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority stated that the following countries are currently off-limits to UAE citizens: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Namibia, Zambia, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa, and Nigeria.

Exceptions to the ban include diplomats and those seeking emergency medical treatment.

Some of the countries on the list do have confirmed cases of the delta variant of the coronavirus

The World Health Organization has pointed out that there is evidence to show that delta variant is more easily transmissible. India, particularly, has struggled to contain the variant and seen a massive collapse of its healthcare system due to its spread.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority did not name any specific variants but have cited coronavirus-related concerns for the travel ban.
