Being an expat in Dubai as Ramadan approaches is a unique experience. There’s a buzz in the air as both those who observe, and those who celebrate, gear up for the holy month. There are deals everywhere from supermarkets to high-fashion outlets and of course, the food scene changes completely

Specially crafted menus are available everywhere, so whatever you feel like marking Iftar with, you’ll be catered to. For those who fancy a traditional experience, the Grand Hyatt has you covered.

What to expect from the Grand Hyatt’s Iftar

As expected, Iftar in the Grand Hyatt will be a fancy affair. The breaking of the fast will be held in the Al Ameera Ballroom, but as exclusive as this grand setting is, it still has a family-friendly feel.

The Grand Iftar will include an array of regional and international cuisine and will even have live cooking stations. Chefs who hail from the region will make the food so you know it’s authentic and made with love. You’ll be able to taste Koshari from Egypt and move on to Saj Mana’eesh from Lebanon. For those of you with a sweet tooth, Syrian ice cream maker Bakdash from Souk Al Hamidiya of Damascus will be present, creating delicious and cooling treats. 

An escape from the city

We were presented with a selection of mezze, fresh bread and a mixed grill. The food was beautifully presented and flavourful. The seafood quinoa and moutabel were our favourites alongside the Lebanese bread. The selection of simple and authentic food was delicious and everything displayed attention to detail.

The portions were generous and we were made to feel at home. The Grand Hyatt’s Iftar transports you away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai and into a tranquil little oasis (just with stunning marble columns and chandeliers around). It’s the perfect way to find refuge from the heat outside and calm after a day of fasting.

Suhoor will also be available from 9pm until 2am in the Laylati Cafe, ensuring all your Ramadan needs are met. 

Another reason to visit

If you fancy one of the more traditional Iftars, the Grand Hyatt is a must-visit. During Ramadan, the hotel will also donate one dirham for every Iftar meal bought to the Al Jalila Foundation. The organisation, founded by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed, is dedicated to transforming lives through medical education and research.

Every day from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM (Saturday to Wednesday) and from 9:00 PM to 2:30 AM (Thursday and Friday)
