We have everything here in Dubai; the world’s biggest building, one of the world’s largest malls, beautiful dancing fountains and world-class food. Why would we ever want to go anywhere else?
As much as we love the city, it’s fast-paced and so every now and again it’s nice to take a break and switch off. The next time you fancy a getaway, try booking yourself into one of the cities stunning hotels. You’ll still have all your home comforts, and you’ll know your way around, but you get to be pampered and spoilt – what is there not to love? We visited the Radisson Blu in Downtown to test out the staycation theory.
We stayed the night so we could report back to you guys – it’s a hard life, we know! Anyway, the welcome was warm, the room – gorgeous and the views – well, it’s Dubai – so pretty darn spectacular. The room we stayed in featured a ceiling to floor window, which was the cherry on top of our stay.
The room was gorgeous and the macaroons and chocolate were a nice touch! You can judge a good hotel by the bathroom and Radisson’s didn’t disappoint. Tub by the window? How’s that for a little luxury!
We ordered room service and the selection of food was delicious. We recommend the lamb chops, salmon AND shrimp! Go on, treat yourself!
The resident restaurant, Lemon Pepper, serves international cuisine. The lunch buffet includes a variety of food so you’ll be spoilt for choice. There’s also an a la carte menu if you know exactly what you want.
The hotel in general is very homely and the staff were wonderful. Relax by the pool and you’ll enjoy the gorgeous view – It’s the perfect way to end the day.
As Dubai residents, it was nice being able to enjoy a change of scenery, knowing we weren’t too far from home, and not having to deal with the airport traffic, heavy bags, stopovers and airplane food…
The Radisson Blu in Downtown is a wonderful hotel to visit if you’re in need of a change of scenery. For those who are just passing through (you’ll be won over), the Radisson Blu is in a prime location, providing easy access to both tourist attractions, and the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai International Financial Centre, for those who balance business with pleasure.
The hotel has four room types: Standard, Business Class, Corner Suite, and a Bedroom Suite. There are meeting facilities, a business centre and a gym, pool and sauna. The spa, Tosa, is gorgeous and the perfect cherry on top of a visit to the Radisson Blu. (Stress Buster massage – does what it says on the tin, just FYI).
Visit the website for more info, or to book your downtown getaway.
