Shipwrecks: The scariest, most petrifying of all thoughts.
A Dubai-based family of six endured extreme distress after their boat sunk 2km away from Atlantis, in the Arabian Sea.
Maya Sarkis shared the unfortunate story of her family’s fishing trip gone wrong with Lovin Dubai, and it’s a story of danger, fear, miracle and one that sings praise to Dubai’s proactive authorities.
As the boat started sinking, Maya’s husband was quick to contact the Dubai Police and request their services, however, there was no response from the authorities at the time.
Within 2-minutes, their boat completely submerged and the family of six were left stranded in the sea for over 45-minutes without the support of lifejackets nor without any prior training or instructions from the staff on what to do in the case of an emergency.
Whilst attempting to swim back to shore, Maya noted that truly a miracle took place when her husband noticed his phone lighting underwater, she said:
“Thank God a miracle happened 🙏 my husband saw a light coming from his pocket the phone was ringing it was the police.. 9% battery phone was fully in water in almost 25min the rescue came and found us safe.”
Maya thanked Dubai’s proactive and diligent authorities for coming through in the nick of time and saving her family from a fatal possibility.
