According to the latest innovation index issued by PWC, Dubai has ranked number 1 in the Arab world in innovation and has maintained its 20th position globally. This means that Dubai has raced ahead of major cities like Madrid, Shanghai and Milan. The skyscraper-studded city scored impressive numbers in categories such as agile government, infrastructure, funding, business environment and society.
The report also noted the city’s outstanding management of the post-pandemic phase and high growth in major sectors.
Singapore and Hong Kong maintained their first and second places on the Index respectively, with Stockholm climbing three places to replace London in the third position, with the UK capital dropping five places to 8th position this year.
Key takeaways from this year’s Index are that digitalisation underpins the transformation and success of the most innovative cities; governments in top innovative cities do more to promote innovation than just set policies, oversee regulations and provide incentives.
