Dubai Ruler Opened 3 New Highways To Link The Emirates And Reduce Travel Time

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai just announced that 3 new highways have been opened. The highways will be linking various emirates across the UAE together for shorter travelling distance.

New infrastructure projects worth AED1.95 billion have been inaugurated today to shorten the distance and transportation time between the various emirates.

We opened a road linking Maliha in Sharjah with Al Shuwaib in Abu Dhabi, and another linking Hatta in Dubai with Masfout in Ajman and the Al-Qour Mountains in Ras Al Khaimah

The new axes are Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, Al Watan Road, and Dubai-Hatta Road.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, is an extension of the Sheikh Khalifa Road (E84) that leads to Fujairah. The axis extends with Sharjah-Kalba Road (E102) and continues to the Mleiha area and Al Madam area in Sharjah, arriving to Al Shuwaib area Abu Dhabi. The 52km route allows for the speed 140km/h.

The second axis is Al-Watan Road extends from the Hatta area, passing through the Masfout area in the Emirate of Ajman, the Almunaee area and the mountains of Wadi Al Qor in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Then it intersects with the first axis in the Mleiha area in Sharjah. It’s 42km with a speed limit of 120km/h.

The third axis is Dubai-Hatta Road. It’s an improvement of the current Dubai-Hatta road between Nizwa and Al Madam areas within Sharjah. The 18km route allows a speed of 120km/h. The project includes the development of the current lower crossing leading to Al Nizwa area and the construction of four pedestrian bridges in the Madam area.

The second and part of the first axis will shorten the distance between Al Madam roundabout and the Hatta area from 115km to 95km which is reduction of 30 minutes.

The first axis will shorten the distance between Al Shiwayb area and Fujairah from 115 km to 93 km. It will reduce the journey time by 15 minutes.
