Umbrella alert! Severe storms expected in Saudi Arabia until Saturday
Brace yourselves, Saudi Arabia! This weekend’s forecast paints a picture of heavy rain and thunderstorms brewing across the entire kingdom until Saturday. Don’t be fooled by the sunshine – hail’s joining the party too, particularly in Hail region. It’s getting serious – authorities are urging everyone to avoid flood-prone areas due to the risk of flash floods.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense advises against swimming in vulnerable areas and urges everyone to follow official safety instructions shared through media and social media.
Expect heavy rain that could trigger flash floods, hail, and strong winds in parts of Makkah, Riyadh, Al-Baha, Al-Qassim, and the Eastern Province.
Sandstorms are to be expected in Asir, Jazan, and Hail regions.
While some regions brace for heavy storms, other Saudi Arabian cities can expect a milder weekend experience. While rain is still in the forecast, it’s likely to be lighter, accompanied by refreshing dust-stirring winds.
