These Achievements Will Go Down In History!

Loul Deng is SSBF’s President. Loul explains in an interview that the world views African basketball as different, he therefore elaborates the belief that mental toughness and physicality are priorities to be learnt. And this is exactly what his team represents!

A full documentary of their journey as a team will be out soon

What you might have not known is that most of these team members have fled the civil war in South Sudan. These team members have hence experienced many hardships. Loul Deng was emotional hearing many of these team member’s stories…

“Imagine your family fleeing a country and going to find life somewhere else and instead of you being in that other country and forgetting about South Sudan or enjoying your professional basketball career you actually commit to come back and play for the same country that you fled because of the war and you’re the one now bringing all this positivity to it”

Fun Fact:

Khaman Maluach is currently the youngest player at the 2023 FIBA WC! He is also the third youngest EVER to compete in FIBA World Cup history, dating back to 1950. We’re so proud to see this sixteen year old slash up these courts!
