Pakistan women’s captain Fatima Sana is looking toward the future. Speaking in Lahore, the star all-rounder made a passionate plea to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to officially launch a women’s cricket league. With the global game evolving rapidly, Fatima believes that a structured domestic league featuring foreign talent is exactly what the team needs to bridge the gap with international giants and raise the bar for local players.
Here is why the captain feels now is the perfect time for a women’s league.
Fatima Sana emphasized that a proper women’s league has been a long time coming. By introducing international players into a domestic setup, local cricketers would get invaluable exposure to different playing styles and high-pressure situations. She noted that this structure would provide a “better bridge” for young talent making the jump from domestic games to the international stage.

The captain is already seeing positive changes in the squad’s approach. Under her leadership, the players have been encouraged to adopt a more “aggressive and attacking” style of play. This shift was evident in the recently concluded National Women’s T20 Tournament, where Fatima herself was named joint Player of the Tournament after leading her side, the Conquerors, with 271 runs and 8 wickets.
With the T20 World Cup in England and Wales fast approaching this June, the team is entering a crucial preparation phase. Fatima highlighted that the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe in May, followed by a tri-series in Ireland(featuring the West Indies), will be vital for building the right team combinations.
Fatima’s personal goal remains clear: contributing to more victories as an all-rounder. She stressed that in the T20 format, consistency is everything because a single player can flip a game at any moment. By focusing on match readiness and a fearless attitude, she is confident that Pakistan can head into the marquee event with a winning momentum.
