Marking his first visit to the city since Saudi Arabia was elected as the host country for the World Expo 2030 in November 2023. This visit spanned four days.
Since Saudi Arabia’s election during the 173rd General Assembly of the BIE on November 28, 2023, preparations for the World Expo have been underway at the highest level.
The Expo implementation plan, encompassing legislative and financial measures, the Expo site master plan, and legacy plans, will be detailed in the file to be presented.
Upon submission and review by member states, the General Assembly will officially register Expo 2030 Riyadh, allowing Saudi Arabia to invite international participants through diplomatic channels and kickstart preparations.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Kerkentzis highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to cooperation with the International Bureau of Exhibitions and its member states to ensure the success of the exhibition, looking forward to the next phase of the project as momentum builds.
Under the theme “Era of Change: Together for an Enlightened Tomorrow,” the exhibition aims to host 197 countries and 29 international organizations from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031. In June, a Saudi delegation will present a progress report on Expo 2030 Riyadh during the Bureau International des Expositions’ 174th General Assembly.
