Hussein Al-Qahtani from the Saudi National Meteorological Center has announced that starting next year, Hajj won’t be held in summer again until 2043!
He explained, “The Hajj season is shifting gears due to climate changes starting in 2026. There won’t be another summer Hajj for the next 17 years.”
The Hajj spring phase will last 8 years straight!
He mentioned that from 2026 onwards, the Hajj will be in the spring for eight years straight, followed by eight years in the winter. “So, we’re saying goodbye to summer Hajj for a good 16 years,” he added, noting the extreme heat pilgrims face, often hitting 45-47 degrees Celsius.
Say goodbye to the heat during Hajj!
Dr. Mansour Al Mazroui, a member of the Shoura Council and a climate change researcher, confirmed these upcoming changes. He explained that after next year’s summer Hajj, it’ll switch to spring for eight years, then to winter. “The winter Hajj will run from Hijri year 1454 to 1461, followed by the fall Hajj from 1462 to 1469,” he clarified.
