In exciting news from the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Royal Reserve, the 15th Arabian oryx calf has been born!

As Andrew Zaloumis, CEO of the Reserve, shared in a recent press release, “The birth of the reserve’s 15th oryx is a milestone in our conservation work and our contribution to the regional conservation effort to establish sustainable wild populations of this culturally iconic Arabian species across its native terrain.”

Once considered extinct in the wild by the 1970s due to overhunting and habitat loss, the Arabian oryx has made a remarkable recovery

With sustained conservation and reintroduction efforts, the species has been reclassified as “vulnerable” on the IUCN Red List, a testament to the effectiveness of these rewilding programs.

This latest calf is a symbol of hope for the species and an inspiring example of the reserve’s commitment to both Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative. It’s proof that with the right conservation efforts, endangered species can be brought back from the brink.
