The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced the operation of two more lines — the Red Line (Line 2) and the Green Line (Line 5) — bringing the metro network closer to full functionality. With this milestone, five out of the six planned lines are now operational.
The Red Line spans 25.1 km, connecting the city’s east and west via King Abdullah Road. It links key spots like King Saud University, King Fahd Sports City, and the Riyadh International Convention Center. The line intersects with other metro lines at major stations, offering seamless travel options across the city.
While 12 stations along this route are operational, two — the Ministry of Finance and National Museum stations — are set to open later. This line also connects with the Red and Blue Lines for added convenience.
The Blue Line (Line 1), Yellow Line (Line 4), and Purple Line (Line 6) have already streamlined commutes along major thoroughfares, including Olaya Street, King Khalid International Airport Road, and Abdul Rahman bin Awf Road. The final phase, the Orange Line (Line 3), is set to open on January 5, 2025, completing the full metro network.
With its user-friendly Darb app and accessible ticketing systems, it’s reshaping the way residents and visitors experience Riyadh.
