As part of this initiative, four monumental artworks have been unveiled, turning everyday commutes into artistic experiences.
At the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Metro Station, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Alexander Calder’s Janey Waney takes center stage with its vibrant, kinetic design, while Robert Indiana’s globally iconic LOVE sculpture radiates universal themes of hope and connection. These masterpieces enhance the station’s bold design, creating a space where art meets innovation.
At Qasr Al Hokm Downtown Metro Station, Snøhetta’s architectural brilliance is complemented by Ugo Rondinone’s golden centerpiece The Sun, symbolizing energy and renewal, alongside Zaman Jassim’s reflective When the Moon is Full, inspired by Riyadh’s cultural heritage. These installations elevate the station into a space of beauty and meaning, blending tradition with modernity.
Launched under Saudi Vision 2030, Riyadh Art continues to integrate creativity into urban life, with over 500 artworks by international and local artists enriching the city’s identity and establishing Riyadh as a global arts destination. As the metro opens its doors, these stations stand as shining examples of how art can enhance everyday life.
