Saudi Arabia Asks YouTube To Remove Offensive Ads

Avatar

YouTube has been urged by Saudi Arabian authorities to stop showing ‘offensive’ commercials and videos to users here.

The improper content of the YouTube advertisements violates Islamic law, societal norms, and platform and platform-specific media standards according to a joint statement from the Saudi Commissions of Audiovisual Media and the Communications and Information Technology Commission.

According to the statement, YouTube has been asked to take the adverts down and to abide by the rules.

This comes after many users in the country took to social media asking for stricter control of YouTube’s content.

Several also shared practical tips on how to manage the ads.
