This project is all about making it easier for pilgrims and visitors to reach the historic cave located on Makkah’s Jabal Al Noor, a mountain that stands about 634 meters above sea level. The cave, which is about 4 kilometers from the Grand Mosque, is a significant religious site where the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) received his first revelation.
Alongside this, Makkah will see the completion of the Hira Cultural District, the opening of three new museums in Jabal Omar, and the launch of the Mount Thor Cultural District, which promises to offer a variety of new services and attractions. All these developments are scheduled to debut in 2025, transforming the area into a vibrant cultural and historical hub.
Known as the Mountain of Light, Jabal Al Noor has a unique camel-hump shape and steep slopes. The cave, though small and able to fit only five people, holds immense significance for Muslims. While getting there used to involve a challenging climb, recent upgrades, including a paved road, have made it more accessible.
Fawaz Al-Muhrej, CEO of Samaya Investment Company, shared that preparations are in full swing for the cable car system.
