If you’re someone who uses taxis a lot then this is very relevant to you. Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority announced a rise in taxi rates inside cities on Sunday. The base starting rate has been raised to SR10 reports the Saudi Gazette.

Not only the base prices but waiting and charges per each kilometer have also been hiked.

The waiting price has been raised to SR0.9 per minute instead of SR0.8

The fee for each additional kilometer beyond the base rate has been increased to SR2.1 instead of SR1.8 under the new pricing scheme.

Earlier this year, in a historic first, women were allowed to drive taxis and now many women have taken to the streets as taxi drivers in cities like Riyadh and Jeddah.
