The Saudi National Orchestra and Choir delivered a captivating performance at the Tokyo Opera City Theater on Friday, showcasing their “Masterpieces of the Saudi Orchestra” concert

This marked the fifth stop in their global tour, following performances in Paris, Mexico City, New York, and London, and was hosted with the support of Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture.

The concert brought together the musical traditions of Saudi Arabia and Japan in a display of cultural exchange

Highlights included a performance by the Japanese Imperial Orchestra, presenting ancient court music, and an anime medley infused with Saudi musical elements. The theme of AlUla, composed by Omar Khairat, was another standout piece.

The evening concluded with a collaborative performance featuring the Saudi Orchestra, the Tokyo University of Music Orchestra Academy, and Japanese artist Hotai, leaving the audience of officials, business leaders, and music enthusiasts deeply impressed.

Paul Pacifico, CEO of the Saudi Music Authority, highlighted the tour’s purpose of introducing Saudi musical heritage to global audiences, emphasizing the shared experience of music as a universal language.

As the Saudi Music Authority plans future destinations for the tour, the Tokyo performance stands as a testament to the power of cultural collaboration and the growing international presence of Saudi music.
