Last month, Netflix dropped a Saudi film called “From The Ashes” on the platform. Now, three weeks later, the movie has not just reached the top charts in Saudi and the Gulf in a broader context, but has trended in over 37 countries according to Scene Now. Saudi cinema is going global people!

It’s even made it to the top 10 in many places where you wouldn’t expect a Saudi flick to do well, including places like Jamaica, Luxembourg, and several countries in Latin America.

The movie is based on a real-life incident where a fire broke out in an all-girls school.

Directed by Khalid Fahad, this Saudi Netflix original is probably the biggest movie coming out of Saudi.

With its authentic Saudi vibes and unique genre blend, “From the Ashes” is drawing in viewers from all corners of the world.

By early February, it had racked up a whopping 7.6 million views and over 11.6 million hours of watch time.

That’s some serious screen time! Netflix will probably be producing more Saudi originals, seeing how well this one has done.
