With women’s driving expected to begin next year, the concerned authorities are taking all necessary measures so that the implementation is smooth and steady.

Speaking to Al Madinah, the Kingdom’s Director General of Traffic, Mohammed Al Bassami, has announced that women will so be joining the traffic police.

During his interview, Al Bassami has mentioned that a recommendation on the matter has been submitted to the higher authorities for further action.

However, the move has not been officially implemented yet.

Al Bassami has also highlighted that the traffic department is developing a partnership with four other universities in the Kingdom to help implement women’s driving. The universities working with the traffic department on this are the Tabuk University, Abdulrahman Al Faisal University, King Abdulaziz University and Princess Noura University.

He has also stressed that the traffic police are working day and night with all partners and quashed all rumors surrounding traffic fines by saying that penalties will be the same for both men and women.
