You might often see news from Sharjah that says a decision was taken and announced via a call on ‘The Direct Line.’ But do you know what it actually is? We’re here to tell you why it’s actually quite important!

The Direct Line or Al Khat Al Mubasher (translated) is a popular programme on Sharjah TV

And what is Sharjah TV? It’s a channel inaugurated by HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It officially launched on February 11, 1989, and it serves to “add value to each and every house in the area.”

‘The Direct Line’ is known for taking calls from locals and residents of the Emirate of Sharjah and addresses their concerns and queries

You might be asking why is ‘The Direct Line’ important. People phone a lot on this programme to highlight things about Sharjah and it’s actually very successful and beneficial. Lots of people call to ask about elderly homes, education, scholarships, sports or for help. More often than not, His Highness will use it to respond to the public!

Through ‘The Direct Line’ His Highness, would make announcements such as scholarships at Sharjah universities, regulations, or how he personally made changes to help a resident!
