The exemption applies to visit and tourist visa holders, people with exit permits, and residents who cancelled their residency in preparation to leave the country. Authorities confirmed that the waiver covers fines issued from February 28, 2026, when UAE airspace was temporarily closed.
Travellers who overstay their visas are typically charged around Dh50 per day, but these penalties have been suspended for those affected by the disruption.

Officials said the move aims to support travellers facing circumstances beyond their control, allowing them to resolve their legal status without any financial burden. Specialised teams at airports and service centres are also assisting passengers whose flights were delayed or rescheduled.
Authorities continue to encourage affected travellers to follow official channels for updates and check with airlines for the latest flight information as travel operations gradually resume.
