An animal shelter which has rescued over 850 dogs thanked its Instagram followers for their generous donations, following pleas for help.

Stray Dogs Centre, which operates out of UAQ, posted to Instagram this week saying, ‘The support has been phenomenal 🙏🙏🙏 AED50,500 paid towards our vet bill today’, the team has saved over 852 dogs, 4 wonky donkeys and 15 cats and works day and night to provide food, a roof and to eventually rehome animals which have been abandoned im the UAE.

Some rescue stories, such as a husky which was recently forgotten on a balcony and Braveheart grab headlines, but other tales of abandonment go unheard and a quick scroll of this feed highlights the incredible number of rescues completed by the4 team. The shelter is a non-profit which runs on corporate and individual sponsorships of dogs, food, contributions towards vets bills, and adoption charges, and this recent influx of generous donations will towards an unpaid vets bill.

The shelter regularly posts horrifying tales of abandoned animals but reminds netizens that their mission comes at a price, and support is needed

The shelter is a non-profit licensed by the Umm Al Quwain Economic Department.

A note for donations in the UAE: Non-profit associations which wish to raise any type of donations in the UAE, must first obtain a licence from Ministry of Community Development or a competent authority in each emirate

Although you may not be able to give a home to a doggo, the shelter looks for other types of donations. YOU can sponsor dogs, food, contributions towards vets bills etc, fee-paying activities, fundraising, and adoption charges.

There’s also corporate sponsorship, monthly, recurring sponsorship, either financial, goods or service.
