The ‘Dubai Can’ Initiative Has Successfully Cut 3.5 MILLION Single-Use Plastic Bottles

Dubai peeps are taking the Dubai Can sustainability movement and running with it! It’s definitely becoming greener by the day by charging a little extra for single-use plastic bags and cutting down the use of plastic bottles with the ‘Dubai Can’ initiative.

You might’ve seen the FREE water dispensers across the entire city because there are 46 of them installed at public parks, beaches and at popular attractions.

3.5 million 500ml single-use plastic bottles have been saved in 6 months since the launch of ‘Dubai Can’

Since the initiative’s launch in February, residents have reduced the usage of the equivalent of more than 3.5 million 500ml plastic bottled water! Those are impressive numbers.

The initiative achieved this extraordinary success by measuring the water consumed from the water fountains.

But that’s not the end. ‘Dubai Can’ is on track to meet its pledge of installing more than 50 fountains across the city by December 2022. Just imagine how many more single-use plastic bottles will be saved.
