Emirates Flight Cancelled After Pilot Refused To Take A Breath Test

An Emirates flight from Perth to Dubai was cancelled last week.

According to news source the West Australian, the co-pilot was concerned and refused to fly with the pilot. The pilot was ordered to take an alcohol test, when he declined he was stood down and the flight was cancelled.

Emirates released a statement saying member of crew had a medical issue

“Emirates can confirm that flight EK425 from Perth to Dubai on 9 October 2016 was cancelled due to operational reasons arising from a medical issue involving a crew member.”

Passengers were transferred to another flight after a 16 hour delay and an apology from Emirates

The airline has a strict no tolerance rule to alcohol consumption. The blood alcohol level of a pilot cannot be over 0.04%.
