In a research conducted by Nasser Al-Salem Al-Qahtani, as a Ph.D. thesis at an Australian university, he found that 75% of Saudis could be obese by the year 2020. Reasons being “the presence of a driver with family, daily consumption of soft drinks, watching TV and using computers and other electronic devices,” reports Arab News.

Not many people in the Kingdom are able to lose weight the regular way due to levels of obesity, however; there’s a new non-surgical and fully reversible treatment called the Obalon Balloon System is being noticed by obese Saudis who can’t lose weight through regular means.

What is the Obalon Baloon System?

It is reportedly an effective system for people to less excess weight, that’s most useful for people with obesity. Even The Food Drug Authority (FDA) along with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) even approves is as a system to lose weight in a safe and developed manner for people to lose weight without surgery.

This technique is attracting many patients in KSA, especially since weight loss is considered to be one of the difficult challenges they face, while many patients had recourse to liposuction or to sleeve gastrectomy which may cause dangerous side effects.

How does it work?

The patient will only have to swallow three of the lightweight balloons seen below but in a span of six months, this will inflate (the nitrogen gas and take a part of stomach)- this will then suppress someone’s hunger.

Each of the balloon takes less than 10 minutes, as opposed to its last version that took three-months. The balloon can help you loose excess weight  for people whose BMI (body mass index) is between 27-35 and can’t lose weight through working out or diets.
