A Crackdown On Indecently Dressed Mannequins Is Currently Taking Place In An Emirate

Avatar

Quick recall – in 2008, the Sharjah Municipality, issued a circular that stated that all mannequins should be headless and displayed with “decent clothes”.

It also forbid displaying mannequins with underwear so as to uphold the traditional and religious values of the emirate.

But the law is not being upheld in many stores and the conservative members of the community have lodged several complaints about it

The Sharjah Municipality said they had received complaints from residents, who had objected to shops displaying men’s and women’s undergarments on mannequins.

They are now intensifying inspections in shops to remind store managers of the ban

Those who were found exhibiting mannequins without decent clothes have been instructed to remove them immediately from the shops.
