The Saudi Pro League has become a magnet for top-tier talent. Don’t believe us? Just look at this list of football elite who have joined Saudi clubs just this past week, and going by the rumour mill, many more are set to join before the transfer season ends.

1. Steven Gerrard

The legendary Liverpool and England captain had the Saudi Pro League buzzing with excitement when he joined Dammam-based club Al-Ettifaq as a coach. A video of his went viral in which he addressed his fans in Arabic.

2. Kalidou Koulibaly

Known for his commanding presence and defensive prowess, Koulibaly has become a force to be reckoned with. The Senegalese officially joined Saudi-side Al-Hilal last week.


3. Édouard Mendy

With Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, and Al-Hilal are making so many big signings, so how can Al-Ahli, which is one of the oldest and most successful clubs, stay behind. They began their signing spree by signing Chelsea goalie Édouard Mendy.

5. Jota Filipe

Portuguese Winger Jota Filipe has signed a three-year contract with Al-Ittihad. Jota joins the star-studded lineup of Al-Ittihad, which already includes Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema and the skillful French international player N’Golo Kante.
