This Friday, get ready for a stunning sight as the last supermoon of the year lights up the night sky. As the moon comes closer to Earth, it will look bigger and shine brighter, making everything around it glow. It’s a beautiful reminder of the amazing things that happen in the universe, and everyone can enjoy watching it, from casual sky watchers to expert astronomers.

The ‘Harvest Moon’ is the last supermoon of 2023

According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, the final supermoon of the year is happening this Friday, September 29. Additionally, it’s also known as the ‘Harvest Moon.’ Its name refers to the fact that it is the full and bright moon that occurs closes to the start of autumn.

In one year, there occurs a total of 4 supermoons so this Harvest Moon is the 4th supermoon of 2023

This year, these 4 supermoons graced the night skies:

  • July’s Buck Moon
  • August’s Sturgeon Moon
  • Blue Moon in August
  • September’s Harvest Moon

The first supermoon occured on July 3, while the second and third took place on August 1 and August 30, and lastly, this Harvest Moon will grace UAE skies on September 29.
