Frequent dietary supplements and contraceptives users- listen up!

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has issued a public warning on the intake of these supplements because of their dangerous side effects, which include anxiety, irritability, nervousness and rapid heartbeat and a sharp drop in blood pressure.

The warning was also extended to the “interaction between some contraceptives and anti-epileptics”, according to a report in WAM.

The ministry also mentioned about products for violations and failing to meet safety standards. These include food supplements that contain salmonella and drugs that are used to relieve heartburn and acid indigestion.

Depakine, which contains valproate, does not affect the effectiveness of estrogen-containing products, however estrogen containing products can accelerate the elimination of valproate form the body might lead to a decreased effect.”
