From A Sudden Loss On Valentine’s Day To Leading A Tribe, Priya Pinto’s Widow Warriors Journey

Priya Pinto is a woman who defines what it means to be a “warrior.”

She’s faced one of life’s most heartbreaking transitions, and instead of letting it dim her spirit, she’s turned her experience into a sanctuary for others.

Priya joined us on The Lovin’ Dubai Show, and what followed was a deeply moving conversation about love, rebuilding, and the transformative power of a shared story.

For Priya, Dubai wasn’t just a city; it was the backdrop of a “quintessential perfect life”

She moved here in 2000 as a new bride, having married her childhood sweetheart, a man she had known since she was nine years old. He was her best friend, her husband, and the father of her two children.

But 12 years ago, on Valentine’s Day, her world turned upside down. While playing football, her husband suffered a fatal heart attack at just 39 years old. Overnight, Priya became a widowed mother to a seven and nine-year-old.

Yet, in the midst of that unimaginable shock, she made a pivotal choice: to stay in the city they called home and build a “full life” for her children.

One of the most powerful aspects of Priya’s journey is her mission to reclaim a label that often carries a heavy, somber weight

Through her community, Widow Warriors, she is teaching women to own the word.

“We’ve redefined that word,” she shared. “If people look at us and they say they’re joyful, they’re empowered, and they’re resilient, then someone else suffering this loss can say, ‘That can be my life.'”

For Priya, being a widow isn’t about being “unlucky,” it’s about demonstrating a strength that can only be forged through fire.

What started as organic coffee meetups has grown into a vital support network of 40 women

The backbone of the group is a WhatsApp chat that serves as a 24/7 lifeline, an injection of positivity for those tough mornings.

Priya recalled a moment that sparked the group’s creation: meeting a woman named Charu whose world had crumbled. By simply sharing her own story, Priya watched Charu’s shoulders lift and the light return to her eyes. It was a realization that while well-meaning friends offer comfort, nothing hits home quite like the words of someone who has walked the same path.

Priya’s journey is a testament to the fact that there is life after loss… and it can be a vibrant one

  • The Author: She penned the book “Ma, Will Life Ever Be the Same Again?” to help parents and children navigate grief through vulnerability and new traditions.
  • The Coach: After years in the corporate world, she certified as a transformation coach. She now offers her “Awakened Heart” program for free to the women in her group, ensuring they find the power within themselves to create their own reality.

Priya describes her life as being in “Season 8” of a colorful Netflix series. She has moved from freelance writer to corporate specialist to a beacon of empowerment, proving that even when the glass feels empty, you can find a way to make it overflow.

Priya Pinto is more than a founder… she’s a symbol of courage and the beauty of starting over.

Her story reminds us that even when we lose our “childhood sweetheart,” we don’t have to lose our joy. Her journey continues to inspire, and we can’t wait to see what Season 9 brings!
