Eid May Be Over But There Are Still A Couple Of UAE Official Holidays To Look Forward To

Avatar

It surprised a lot of us when it was announced that September 1 might be (fingers crossed) a public holiday for both the private and public sectors. Reports say the date, is likely to be Muharram, marking the first day of the Hijri New Year.

2019 seemed to pass by pretty quick, with almost four months left until the arrival of 2020.
But that doesn’t mean the rest of the potential holidays end, no no.

There are MORE holidays to look forward to before the end of 2019

Thanks to the new law by the UAE Cabinet on March 5, 2019- both the private and public working sectors of the UAE have been granted equal leaves. This extraordinary initiative was done to achieve balance between the two sectors in terms of the number of their official holidays.

The remaining UAE holidays in 2019 (for both sectors):

According to the UAE Government’s Portal, both sectors will have days off for:

  • Hijri New Year: 1 Muharram on September 1.
  • Commemoration Day on December 1.
  • UAE’s National Day means TWO days off on December 2 and 3.

*Islamic holidays are determined according to moon sighting.
