A quick search on our phones and the weather charts show highs of 38 – 39 degrees Celsius. Not exactly the temperature you want to be out and about in, but you don’t want to stay in either. What do you do? Pay a visit to these places that are so ‘cool’.
Forgive yourself for thinking you’ve stepped into an igloo when you visit this wellness centre. The treatment (loved by celebs such as Demi Moore and Lindsay Lohan) requires you to get into an aluminium chamber which is frozen to temperatures between minus 140 and minus 180 degrees Celsius using liquid nitrogen. A couple of minutes in there (with your head sticking out) is enough to reap the benefits which are weight loss, better circulation and even athletic recovery. The last step involves stepping into a swirl or dry ice before you’re given a robe to keep warm.
A single session costs AED350 (10 sessions are recommended).
Put on your skates and enjoy a session on the ice at The Dubai Mall. And just in case you don’t know how to ice skate, sign up to the Fun Taster session which will you a glimpse of the activity. The best part: there will be seven other people trying it with you for the first time as well. Expect an audience that includes spectators seated at the stands and shoppers standing around the rink.

The ice lounge is a first in the region and a must-visit for its ice seating and tables, ice sculptures and above all its uniquely illuminated interior. Visitors are provided thermal wear (something you can’t refuse because the temperature inside is as low as minus six degrees Celsius) and then advised to spend a few minutes in the buffer zone to get acclimatized. You can enjoy menu items such as cream of chicken soup, beef lasagna and vegetarian sandwiches or beverages such as hot chocolate and cappuccino.
The plunge pool is the perfect way to beat the heat, but remember you need to book yourself a treatment at this award-winning spa in order to be able to use it. There are separate plunge pools for women and men. You also have access to other facilities such as the sauna, steam room and secluded pool.

Nothing as refreshing (and perhaps healthy) as a swirl of frozen yoghurt. Whether its the original one or flavours such as mango, coconut or pomegranate, this dollop of deliciousness can be topped with pieces of fruit, nuts or even candy.
