7 Cool Places That Will Help You Beat The Heat This Summer

Avatar

A quick search on our phones and the weather charts show highs of 38 – 39 degrees Celsius. Not exactly the temperature you want to be out and about in, but you don’t want to stay in either. What do you do? Pay a visit to these places that are so ‘cool’.

1. Cryo Therapy, Jumeirah Emirates Towers (04 351 8300)

Forgive yourself for thinking you’ve stepped into an igloo when you visit this wellness centre. The treatment (loved by celebs such as Demi Moore and Lindsay Lohan) requires you to get into an aluminium chamber which is frozen to temperatures between minus 140 and minus 180 degrees Celsius using liquid nitrogen. A couple of minutes in there (with your head sticking out) is enough to reap the benefits which are weight loss, better circulation and even athletic recovery. The last step involves stepping into a swirl or dry ice before you’re given a robe to keep warm.

A single session costs AED350 (10 sessions are recommended).

2. Dubai Ice Rink, The Dubai Mall (04 448 5111)

Put on your skates and enjoy a session on the ice at The Dubai Mall. And just in case you don’t know how to ice skate, sign up to the Fun Taster session which will you a glimpse of the activity. The best part: there will be seven other people trying it with you for the first time as well. Expect an audience that includes spectators seated at the stands and shoppers standing around the rink.

Skating sessions are priced at AED 60 per person for 105 minutes, while classes are priced at AED 110 per person.

3. Ski Dubai, Mall of the Emirates (800 386)

Who said malls were just meant for shopping? Mall of the Emirates is home to the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort. There’s lots to do here other than skiing. Enjoy snowboarding, tobogganing or even just playing in the snow. Plus, you can manage some Instagram pictures with the penguins or enjoy a simply awesome hot chocolate at the Avalanche Café.

Entry passes start from AED 260 per person.

4. Dolphin Bay, Atlantis The Palm, Dubai (04 426 0000)

The cold water of this attraction might make it uncomfortable to step in at first, but what lies ahead is a beautiful and unforgettable experience. You can enjoy a range of dolphin interactions – from standing beside them for a picture opportunity to swimming and scuba diving alongside them. Plus the pass also get you same-day access to Aquaventure Waterpark.

You can enjoy menu items such as cream of chicken soup, beef lasagna and vegetarian sandwiches or beverages such as hot chocolate and cappuccino.
