This little JLT café serves eight pieces of sushi from prices as low as AED 30. The have interesting options including crazy California (cucumber, avocado, crab stick with a special crazy mix), express hot (fried maki, mango crab and cheese) and the express wasabi roll (shrimp and avocado roll with a mild wasabi sauce, topped with pan grilled salmon and masago).

2. Chez Sushi, Al Wasl Road (800 78744)

Their signature rolls start at AED 34 (six pieces). The recommended ones are: rainbow maki (a mix of crab, avocado, cucumber and mayo wrapped with salmon, tuna and kingfish) and spicy tuna maki with a dash of chilli mayo.

3. Umi Sushi, Executive Towers, Business Bay (04 369 5181)

The venue is popular for its noodles and teriyaki dishes, but they have sushi on offer too with prices starting from AED 37. The one that stands out is the Philadelphia maki with its filling of salmon, avocado, tobiko and Philadelphia cheese.

4. Sushi Counter, Dubai Media City (04 375 1095)

A favourite with the media guys, the venue offers a range of delicious sushi rolls starting from AED 16. Do try the black salmon roll (a black rice mix with salmon and a spicy sauce) and the platter California selection, if six pieces aren’t enough for you.

5. Atisuto, Galleria Mall (04 343 6303)

There’s no better way to enjoy the sushi at this quirky Japanese eatery than a platter of it. For AED 165 you get top quality stuff – 12 pieces of nigiri and 12 pieces of maki rolls to be precise. #sushiheaven

6. Mizu, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard (04 454 2706)

Let the slow service not deter you from visiting this Japanese restaurant in Downtown Dubai. Its chefs create some great sushi (from AED 18) with diners favouring the spider roll (deep fried soft shell crab) and the flaming roll (baked California roll topped with scallop and their special sauce).

7. Yo! Sushi, The Dubai Mall (04 339 9083)

The thrill of dining here is selecting a meal (from AED 20) from the conveyor belt. With so many options slowly moving past you, it can be tough deciding what to eat. However the menu features the fish no chip roll (Japanese sea bass tempura, onion, cucumber and wasabi), the blossom roll (prawn, spicy tuna topping and sweet sticky soy glaze) and hoisin duck roll (duck and cucumber with hoisin and orange sauce).
