When you look at this strange T-shape that was taken by NASA’s Landsat 8 satellite (last March) from above the Liwa Oasis, south of Abu Dhabi you might wonder what it is. Could it be ancient settlements that were shaped so on purpose?

No, the answer is more random. The shape is actually greenery and date trees that were planted alongside an old highway and then happen to join another lot of trees above that are natural to the desert. The green stands out so much because of the surrounding area’s dusty brown colour.
