On June 30, Emirates flight EK176 from St Petersburg to Dubai had to return to stand after smoke was detected during departure.
No injuries were reported in the incident.

An Emirates plane, which was supposed to fly to the UAE, caught fire at the St. Petersburg airport.

Emirates released a statement apologising for the inconvenience. They also added that the safety of their passengers and cabin crew would never be compromised.
The full statement from an Emirates spokesperson read:
“Flight EK176 from St Petersburg to Dubai on 30 June 2023 returned to the stand due to reports of smoke being detected during pushback for departure. As a precaution, all passengers and crew were disembarked while the aircraft was attended by local authorities and fire services. Passengers were re-boarded after inspections were completed and the aircraft departed with a delay. We apologise for the inconvenience. The safety of our passengers and cabin crew is of upmost important and it will not be compromised.”
