A New Law Has Been Issued To Protect The Rights Of People Of Determination In Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai issued a law in his capacity that aims to protect the rights of people of determination and ensure their inclusion and integration into society.

The law also aims to include people of determination the process of drafting policies and legislations that concern them or may have an effect on their quality of life. Relevant entities should offer them access to data and information through various platforms like banking services, participating in sports and entertainment programmes.

The new law ensures inclusive education, job opportunities, healthcare and social services for people of determination

Violators of people of determinations’ rights will be fined with a maximum of AED100,000

There is a new committee called the ‘Higher Committee to Protect the Rights of People of Determination’ which will represent people of determination. It will supervise all their affairs in Dubai and implement policies, plans, and initiatives aimed to protect their rights. They’re also tasked with proposing legislations that’ll protect their rights and integrate them into society.

The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai is developing a system to allow people of determination and their guardians to report any violations or their rights. The Authority will also issue identification cards so they can easily access facilities and services allocated to them.

Violators of the new law will be subject to fines listed in the Executive Regulations and those who repeat the offence within a year, will face double the fines with a maximum of AED100,000
